TUE, DEC 10 -- LifeSite Daily News has learned of seven more 'Catholic' universities and colleges in the United States which promote Planned Parenthood on their websites. Michigan Catholics oppose new gov's inauguration plans (Detroit Free Press; 12/4/2002) -- Pro-life Michigan Catholics, angered by Gov.-elect Jennifer Granholm's pro-abortion stance, are protesting her plans to hold an interfaith prayer service at a Catholic church before her inauguration. The service is scheduled for the morning of Jan. 1.

In e-mail messages circulating this week, the head of a Plymouth-based group called the Church and Truth Project is urging members to call St. Mary's Cathedral in Lansing, which is holding the service, and question its participation.

The group plans a prayer vigil outside the church this Sunday. It also is asking people to call the Catholic church Granholm attends, Our Lady of Good Counsel in Wayne County's Plymouth Township, and ask her pastor not to participate in the service.

The head of the group, theology professor Monica Migliorino Miller, didn't respond to a telephone message left Wednesday at her office at St. Mary's College of Ave Maria University in Orchard Lake.

The protests are the latest Granholm has faced over the abortion issue in her run for governor. Throughout the summer and fall, protesters picketed across from Granholm's church.

A secretary at Our Lady of Good Counsel said Wednesday that fewer protesters have come to the church recently. But she said at least one person picketed across from the church last Sunday. She didn't know whether Granholm's pastor plans to participate in the interfaith service.

The Church and Truth Project also urged members to call Detroit Cardinal Adam Maida and ask that he not participate in the service.

McFarland, S.J. -- they have taken notice! (Worcester Telegram, 11/3/2002)
