Pro-abortion
TDs could face public excommunication
By Conor Keane, Irish Examiner
PROMINENT pro-abortion Catholic
politicians could face public excommunication if a petition to Pope John Paul II succeeds.
Catholic organisations in the US, who initiated the petition, are asking
anti-abortion groups in Ireland to nominate politicians to be cited in
the petition, along with 52 public figures in the US, including Senators
Edward Kennedy, John Kerry and Joseph Biden.
The Canonical Petition to Excommunicate Culture of Death Catholics is
being submitted to Pope John Paul II by groups like the America Life League;
Roman Catholic Faithful; The Daily Catholic and Catholic World News.
Petition originator Timothy A. Chichester said only US politicians have
been cited by name to-date, but he said he wants to extend the petition to
Ireland and other countries.
“We would dearly welcome the inclusion of Irish politicians in this petition. In choosing the criteria for defendant selection, we generally
chose the most hard-core and high-profile extremists who actively
support partial birth infanticide in addition to mere abortion, those with
documented records,” he explained.
Mr Chichester said Ireland’s price for the promise of steady
employment by the EU is acceptance of the culture of death.
“In a nutshell, you will end as a back-water, a minor entity of the EU,
a source of cheap labour for the larger industrialised countries, fully
under the influence of the world population controllers, and as spiritually
and culturally wasted as the British. That is why are asking you to join our
international effort to halt the slide ... to halt the betrayal by
Catholics in name only. This petition is not just a spiritual work of mercy to the
individuals named, but to each of our nations. Our people have not been catechised properly.
“Most do not understand that it is a mortal sin to vote for a
pro-abortion politician. Propagate this petition and save Ireland from becoming
another nation of sorrowful and bitter families,” he said. ## |
