"If you believe what you like in the gospels,
and reject what you don't like,
it is not the gospel you believe, but yourself."

This web site . . .
is dedicated to the proposition that "Catholic" champions of abortion should be admonished by Church authorities to publicly renounce their abortion advocacy; and that the refusal to do so should result in the public excommunication of the offenders.
Due to the fact that the current clergy sex scandals (see also the web site cruxnews.com) illustrate the failure in two key areas germane to the abortion scandal -- governance & chastity -- we include items of interest relating to this unfolding tragedy. In addition, given that abortion is child abuse, we would like to see Church authorities exhibit an analogous degree of "zero tolerance" towards abortion's champions, who are still actively promoting abortion.

Bishop Coakley of Salina Kansas says denying Communion to pro-abort politicians

FRI, DEC 8 (Immaculate Conception) -- Vatican confirms excommunication for US dissident group -- Dec. 7, 2006 (CWNews.com) - The Vatican has confirmed an American bishop's decision to excommunicate members of the dissident group Call to Action.

Call to Action is "causing damage to the Church of Christ," wrote Cardinal Giovanni Battista Re (bio - news), the prefect of the Congregation for Bishops, in a letter to Bishop Fabian Bruskewitz of Lincoln, Nebraska.

In March 1996, Bishop Bruskewitz had announced the excommunication of all Catholics in his diocese who were members of Call to Action or several other dissident groups which he described as "totally incompatible with the Catholic faith."

The Nebraska chapter of Call to Action appealed the bishop's decision to the Vatican. In his November 24 letter to Bishop Bruskewitz, Cardinal Re reports that Vatican's finding that the disciplinary action was "properly taken."

The Vatican has determined that "the activities of 'Call to Action' in the course of these years are in contrast with the Catholic Faith due to views and positions held which are unacceptable from a doctrinal and disciplinary standpoint," Cardinal Re writes. He concludes: "Thus to be a member of this Association or to support it, is irreconcilable with a coherent living of the Catholic Faith."

The excommunication that Bishop Bruskewitz announced covered not only to Call to Action, but also to members of Catholics for a Free Choice, Planned Parenthood, the Hemlock Society, the Freemasons, and the Society of St. Pius X.

The excommunication order applies only within the Lincoln, Nebraska diocese. But the Vatican's judgment against Call to Action raises clear questions about the status of the group's members in other dioceses.

MON, SEPT 26 -- Media reports depict Father Walter Cuenin, the pro-gay, dissenting priest who was ousted from his Newton parish, as a martyr to Church tyranny. For some good commentary, see Domenico Bettinelli, Jr.'s (Catholic World Report) blog.

SUN, SEPT 25 -- Archdiocese of Boston: pro-"gay" priest removed! As previously reported, we wrote to Archbishop O'Malley about Father Walter Cuenin and his parish's "Gay Pride Parade" participation--for the third consecutive year! The archbishop was "very disturbed by the information," according to a letter from Bishop Lennon. Well, apparently action has been taken--it's about time!--and Father Cuenin has been removed from his pastorate.
Father Cuenin read a statement at yesterday's Mass. He said in the statement that he was removed for leasing a car in violation of archdiocesan policy(!). No comment from the archdiocese, but Bishop Lennon's letter implies what the real reason was. Hopefully, the Archdiocese will clarify this.

From this weekend's parish bulletin, Father Cuenin's column, excerpted here, gives further evidence of why he needed to go: "We have made a special effort to welcome gay and lesbian persons and their families. The parish is blessed to have many couples, some now legally married, as members of the community. They come on Sundays and are raising their children in the faith. Their marriage seems to have been a good experience for them. It doesn’t appear that anyone’s marriage has been threatened or compromised by the 1800 gay marriages that have already taken place in the past year." See page 2 of Our Lady's bulletin
